** UPDATE **
The Gatton Skatepark major upgrade is now complete!, thanks to funding from the Australian Government Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program. To find out more, including to see the design, see the Image Gallery and FAQs sections.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council engaged Australian Skateboarding Community Initiative (ASCI) to undertake a regional skateparks review including community consultation which could be used towards a skateparks master plan.
This project focuses on designs to upgrade Gatton and Laidley skateparks over the next 10-15 years under Council's Management of Regional Skateparks Guideline, and also includes potential improvements to all Lockyer Valley skateparks.
All users of Lockyer Valley skateparks were encouraged to complete the survey or attend a consultation session at a skatepark.
The information collected will be used along with advice from industry experts to provide Council with a long-term view of recommended future improvements and upgrades. Information collected during previous consultations, including previous concept designs, will also be reviewed during this process.
Council has engaged VFG Skateparks to construct a major extension to the Gatton skatepark based the consultation results and recommendations of industry professionals. Work is expected to commence in the New Year.
