Frequently Asked Questions

Key Factors for Choosing Roads for Resealing

Program planning:

Council typically plans their resealing programs for a year or more in advance.

Cost-effectiveness:

Reduce future maintenance costs and prevent roads from reaching a state that requires a full reconstruction.

Safety improvements:

Resealing can improve safety by providing a smooth, durable and waterproof surface for road users.

Road condition:

Officials assess roads for signs of aging and distress, such as wearing and loss of stone, or age of the seal.

Preventative maintenance:

The primary goal is to protect the road from water damage and wear before major deterioration occurs.
