This phase included a range of consultation activities including an online survey, attending a drop in session, attending a focus group (subject to invitation) and reviewing project proposals on this site. Consultation was conducted March to May 2021.
A Collaborative comprising Lockyer Valley Turf Club, Racing Queensland, Equestrian Queensland, University of Queensland School of Veterinary Science, Lockyer Valley Regional Council, and Regional Development Australia (Ipswich and West Moreton) has been established to guide the redevelopment of the Lockyer Valley Turf Club.
In 2020 the Lockyer Valley Equine Precinct Collaborative developed a concept master plan which envisages the creation of a multi-use racing and equine precinct, with supporting hospitality, event spaces and accommodation, capable of hosting a variety of national and international world class equine events.
A business case is currently being prepared to ensure the proposed facility is financially viable and sustainable, assist with future funding applications and to inform the detailed design of the site.
There are no funding commitments for this project at this stage.
The Collaborative sought feedback on the preliminary plan from the equine and racing industry, community groups and organisations and local residents and business owners in April to May 2021.
