The community was invited to review and provide submissions to Lockyer Valley Regional Council’s draft Waste Reduction and Recycling Plan 2019-2022 (WRRP) between Wednesday 6 March and Monday 22 April 2019.
It is a statutory obligation for Council to have such a (WRRP) Plan under the provisions of the Waste Reduction and Recycling Act 2011. The draft Plan sets a clear pathway for the management of solid waste in the Lockyer Valley region towards and beyond 2022.
Highlighted below are several of the key areas that Council sought feedback from the community. For more information, please download a copy of the WRRP and the FAQs document.
Council has sought to highlight the key changes which are likely to be of interest or concern with significant sections of the community, however, it is noted that there may be other areas of concern to you in the Plan which we have not highlighted here.
- Proposed closure of the Helidon waste facility from 1 July 2019
- Proposed reduction in operating hours for the waste facilities at: Grantham, Lockrose, Lockyer Waters, Murphys Creek and Withcott from 1 July 2019
- Proposed construction of a new waste facility at Otto Road, Glenore Grove approximately 2021
- Proposed closure of Lockrose and Lockyer Waters facilities once the proposed Otto Road facility becomes operational approximately 2021
As this is a legislated document, community feedback needed to be in the form of a valid submission. Refer to the Document Library in the side panel for more information.
Submissions CLOSED on Monday 22 April 2019
Following collation and analysis, submissions will be presented to a Council Meeting to enable a review of the Waste Reduction & Recycling Plan.
A copy of the collated submissions and Council's response to them will be published on this site and Council's website.
